A 33-year-old man, identified as Ivan Beltran, has been arrested on felony driving under the influence (DUI) charges following a serious head-on collision that left another driver injured on Amargosa Road in Victorville, according to authorities. The crash remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD).

The incident occurred on Amargosa Road, a heavily traveled route in Victorville that serves both residential and commercial areas. Emergency personnel responded to reports of a major traffic collision involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, deputies and firefighters discovered that a head-on crash had occurred, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles and injuries to at least one of the drivers involved.

According to preliminary information released by authorities, investigators determined that one of the drivers, later identified as Ivan Beltran, was allegedly operating his vehicle while under the influence at the time of the collision. Following an on-scene investigation, Beltran was arrested and booked on felony DUI charges. Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the specific circumstances that led to the crash, including whether alcohol, drugs, or a combination of substances are believed to have been factors.

The other driver involved in the collision sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the extent of those injuries, but reports indicate that the victim survived the crash. Family members and friends are hoping for a full recovery as the injured driver continues receiving care.

Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of traffic accidents because of the combined force generated when two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide. Such crashes frequently result in severe injuries, lengthy recoveries, and, in some cases, fatalities. Law enforcement officials often cite impaired driving as one of the leading contributors to serious traffic collisions across California and the nation.

The arrest of Beltran highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat impaired driving and improve roadway safety. Authorities routinely remind motorists that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs places not only the driver at risk but also passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists sharing the road. Even a momentary lapse in judgment can result in life-altering consequences.

Investigators spent several hours at the scene documenting evidence, examining vehicle damage, and interviewing witnesses. Traffic in the area was affected while emergency crews worked to clear the roadway and investigators conducted their preliminary assessment. The findings from the investigation will help determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has not indicated whether additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses. Detectives are continuing to review evidence, including witness statements and any available surveillance or dash-camera footage, to establish a complete understanding of what occurred.

Community members have expressed concern about the dangers of impaired driving and the impact such incidents can have on victims and their families. Safety advocates continue to encourage drivers to plan ahead, use designated drivers, arrange alternative transportation, or utilize rideshare services whenever alcohol or other impairing substances are involved.

As the investigation continues, authorities are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Additional details may be released as officials complete their review of the case and move forward with the legal process involving Ivan Beltran and the serious Victorville DUI crash.
